The short story "Fireglass" has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize, one of the most renowned literary awards for poetry and short stories in America. "Fireglass" was previously nominated for the Dzanc Books Best of the Web Print Anthology. It appeared in the journal Toasted Cheese. You can read it here.

William Something and the Great American Dream appears in the November/December 2005 Farmhouse Magazine.

BAR 5, an experimental live theatre piece, opens November 8th in Hollywood, California. Jacob Strunk is one of five writers, each of whom crafted an original, unique sequence as a part of the whole. BAR 5 runs at Theatre 68 on Sunset Blvd. November 8th through December 14th, every Tuesday & Wednesday at 8 p.m.

On Thursday, November 3 at 7:30pm, Jacob will be reading from his upcoming novel as a part of "Indoor Voices," hosted by 826LA, the Los Angeles chapter of 826 National, the literacy outreach and tutoring non-profit started in San Francisco by Pulitzer Prize finalist & author Dave Eggers. The 5th Annual Sometime in October Film Festival in Wilmington, N.C. will be screening SAND COUNTRY and VALHALLA the first weekend of October. SAND COUNTRY will show on Saturday, October 1st from 4pm to 6pm in the "Let Us See Your Shorts" film block. VALHALLA will show from 10pm to 12am in the "Celluloid Cauldron" film block. A short Q&A with the filmmaker will follow.

DVD Verdict has published a review of the Valhalla DVD, including individual reviews of Valhalla, A Shadow Before Sunrise, Sand Country, and A Day Awake. It can be found as a .pdf in the PRESS section.

Jacob Strunk's short story Black Tie will appear in the upcoming anthology "Scary Stories - Series #003." The book will be available through Barnes and Noble and other retailers later this year. A book release party is being held at Cinespace in Hollywood on Friday, August 26th. The author WILL NOT be in attendance, but all are encouraged to go. Advanced copies of the book will be available for sale and many of the authors will be there to sign copies.

Another Happy Ending...a new short film by Jacob Strunk.

2005 is the 10th Anniversary of the legendary One Reel Film Festival in Seattle, the most highly-attended short film festival in the country. Jacob Strunk has been invited to participate in the One Reel Filmmaker Challenge, in which ten filmmakers from around the world selected by curator Warren Etheredge craft a filmic response to a philosophical question. Strunk's film will premiere Labor Day weekend in Seattle, Washington at the festival.

Jacob Strunk has been asked to appear as part of a panel discussion at the 2005 World Horror Convention in New York, NY in early April of '05. The convention will also host a screening of Valhalla. The schedule has not yet been released.

A Shadow Before Sunrise and Valhalla will be screened at the Arlene's Grocery Picture Show in New York City. The festival runs April 22 - May 16. The schedule has not yet been released.
